HGV Class 1 Driver Full Time

Jas P Wilson is currently seeking an experienced, competent, and extremely reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our Transport Division based in Dalbeattie. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis.

Jas P Wilson are UK based forestry & firewood machinery suppliers and engineers. Established in 1964, we now serve customers throughout the UK, Europe and beyond from our base in Dalbeattie, South-West Scotland. We deliver to customers covering a range of sectors and professions, including Forestry Contractors, Tree Surgeons, Country Estates, Biomass Producers/Retailers, Colleges, and Local Authorities. The plant and machinery we supply and deliver ranges from firewood processing machinery, forestry tractors and trailers, winches, chippers, harvesting heads, excavators, forestry harvesters and forestry forwarders. We deliver to all parts of the Uk, including Northern Ireland as well as Southern Ireland. We also carry out a range of shows and demos throughout the year.

Our 70+ strong team of skilled staff, including designers, engineers, service technicians and sales staff operate from an ever-expanding 20,000 square metre base in Dalbeattie, home to our workshops, design studios, offices, and dedicated training centre.

·         We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, competent and extremely reliable Class 1 HGV driver to join our transport division in Dalbeattie. The role is a full time, permanent position, Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday shifts required.

Truck and trailer based at our main depot in Dalbeattie.

Key skills & Knowledge

·         Full Uk class 1 driving license.

·         Valid CPC.

·         Valid Digital tachograph card.

·         Experience in using step frame trailers and transporting of plant and machinery.

·         Good knowledge and experience of loading and securing plant and machinery.

·         Able to work independently, and as part of a team.

·         Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Be able to provide high standards of customer service and have good attention to detail.

·         Be able to plan routes, drive in a safe and efficient manner.

·         Be able and willing to have nights away from home. Trucks are normally away Monday to Friday (4 nights away) with the occasional Saturday required on a rare occurrence.

Roles and Responsibilities

·         Driving allocated HGV vehicle or other vehicles as required.

·         Be an ambassador for Jas P Wilson delivering and collecting machinery to and from customers sites and maintaining an excellent rapport with a positive, proactive, and can-do attitude.

·         Moving plant and machinery to various locations across the UK & Ireland.

·         Completing paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion.

·         Working in conjunction with the Transport Manager’s instructions.

·         Maintaining vehicle and equipment in line with established company standards.

·         Showing flexibility if extra time is required to complete tasks.

·         Acting in accordance with the company’s HSE policies, practises, and procedures.

·         Keep the truck and trailer in a presentable condition.
