Carsphairn Community Trust (CCT) based at Carsphairn, Dumfries and Galloway, is a Scottish Registered Charity (No. SC044308), working in and on behalf of the residents of Carsphairn community. We are now seeking to recruit a Development Officer.
Development Officer
This post is part-time for 2 years and is funded by Carsphairn Renewable Energy Fund Ltd. (CREFL)
The successful candidate will be employed by CCT and will join a team of Trustees and Directors in helping to develop projects run by both Carsphairn Community Trust (CCT) and Carsphairn Community Woodland Ltd. (CCW). Carsphairn Community Woodland Limited is committed to acquiring, developing and managing local woodlands in a sustainable and environmentally sound way for the long-term benefit of the local community.
The postholder will contribute towards the delivery of the Trust and Woodland’s strategies, Operational Plans and overall objectives by delivering a suite of projects, activities and events approved by the boards to meet budget and outcome targets. As such the postholder will by employed by CCT but act on behalf of both CCT and CCW.
The postholder will be directly involved in developing the agreed portfolio of projects, events and activities for CCT and CCW all the while working with the boards of CCT and CCW on behalf of the local community to identify and turn community aspirations into successfully delivered community projects
We require a person who is self motivated, enthusiastic, able to work on their own initiative and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in a formal or informal environment. They must be trustworthy beyond reproach and respect confidentiality, with a proven ability to drive a project from start to finish. A track record in fundraising and preparation of grant applications is required, along with experience in community work either in a paid or volunteer capacity. They will preferably live within a reasonable driving distance from Carsphairn.
Hours: 22.5 weekly Salary: £28,000 pa. Pro-Rata, Pension contribution in line with current legislation. Contract Length: 2 years (may be extended subject to grant application).Closing date: Friday 25th April 2025
