Independent Advocate Full Time

We are recruiting an Independent Advocate to provide adult one-to-one and collective advocacy for all types of referrals to Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service. The advocate’s role is to empower clients to express their views, wishes and choices; you will ensure that clients remain as involved as possible in all decisions that affect their lives.

You must be a good communicator and have excellent listening skills, as these are key to the role of an Independent Advocate.  You must be computer literate, able to work on one’s own initiative, and capable of working as part of a team. It is essential you have a full driving licence and access to independent transport.

This post is to work with people who meet the criteria for advocacy support within the region.  Some of the work our service supports clients with are Mental Health (Care and Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003; NHS; Social Services; Education; Older People; Problematic Substance Issues; Autistic Spectrum Disorder; Unpaid Carers.

Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service provides individual and collective advocacy, which is free, independent and confidential to adults aged 18 and over across the Region.
