Dumfries & Galloway Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Support Centre provides emotional and practical support to anyone age 12 years and above who has been affected by sexual violence, abuse or exploitation. We are part of the national network of rape crisis services across Scotland.
This is a combined position bringing together two roles of Rape Crisis Support Worker and Initial Contact Support Co-ordinator. The post is permanent subject to funding. In addition to triaging all new referrals and managing our waiting list, you will deliver emotional and practical support to survivors who have experienced sexual violence, abuse or exploitation at any point in their lives. You will work collaboratively within the core team and actively contribute to the development of the survivor centred support programme in Dumfries & Galloway, and the broader Rape Crisis Network in Scotland.
Based in Dumfries with travel throughout the region (occasionally further afield), the post is for 35 hours per week. There are travel expenses and a training budget attached to this post.
Applicants should have previous experience of providing one to one emotional support, information or advocacy services, in addition to excellent communication skills. Employment is conditional on a satisfactory PVG check. This post is restricted to female applicants only, under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
