John Paul Jones Birthplace Museum Trust is seeking to appoint a Museum Manager and Secretary to the Trust. This post involves working at John Paul Jones Museum, Kirkbean, Dumfries DG2 8BQ and from home. This is a part time post with minimum guaranteed working hours of 520 hours per annum over 52 weeks with weekly working arrangements and additional hours to be allocated by agreement with the Board of Trustees according to the needs of the museum. The pay rate is £13.50 per hour (£25,820 per annum pro rata).
We are looking for an enterprising and trustworthy person to deliver management and administrative services to the Trust. This will involve ensuring financial sustainability, good governance, financial control and reporting, management of museum staff and property, visitor service standards, museum development and public awareness through marketing and events. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative in a self-directed manner. You will have experience of managing visitor services, maintaining high standards in public facilities and familiarity with business systems and web-based marketing. You will be able to show a high degree of initiative and creativity in promoting the museum, fundraising and organising events and activities. Due to the rural location of the museum you should be able to drive and have access to a car.
